Ok, I don't have a lot of time in my life for bureaucratic horse#$%@, and if you are a real mechanic, you probably don't either, so I'ma just cut to the chase.......
I need mechanics in general, but more then that I need THE MECHANIC!!!!!
The mechanic that I am going to build the future of my company around. The Mechanic that is sick and tired of all the heartless uncaring corporate tools that we have all dedicated way to much of our lives working for.
If you are "THE ONE" you will..........
A) Be a RED SEAL MECHANIC
B) Already have a Safety #
C) Have your MOPIA #
D) Have experience apprenticing, mentoring, & developing
E) Possess an almost complete lack of professionalism
F) NOT BE A MISERABLE WHINY SELF ENTITLED PIECE OF CRAP!!!!
G) ACTUALLY TAKE PRIDE IN YOUR JOB!!!!
H) SPEAK THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE!!!!
I) Have patience, caring, and understanding when you are talking to people who do not have the same level of knowledge you do.
I realize that to YOU all this stuff is very simple and straight forward. I also know how frustrating it is when people ask you for answers, and then try to argue/debate/nitpick when you give them an answer. That being said, you have to remember that it is our responsibility to HELP these poor folks that are just trying to get through the utter nightmare that is automotive service.
This means that we take the time to explain it to them until they are comfortable with spending their money with us. It means we understand that every person's situation is different, and as such sometimes the "right" answer is not always the APPLICABLE answer.
Same goes for when you are talking to us (Mechanical Muggles) ok? We do not understand your magical ways and it is all very confusing and scary to us. SO either be prepared to tell it to me like I'm 3, OR do it yourself.
J) IDEALLY you will be a strong, patient, and caring leader as well.
I swore on everything holy that if I ever had a shop of my own, that it would be a fun and enjoyable place to work. We are not your traditional shop. We are a family, and as such I take my responsibility for the lives of the people who work for me VERY SERIOUSLY.
Since you (if you ARE "THE ONE") will be in charge of everything and everyone, then one of the few expectations I WILL have of you is that you take care of those under you the same way you would a member of your own family (unless of course your family are douchebags, then someone else you like).
ANYWAYS!!!!!...........
I'm sure by now you have figured out that I am not the traditional boss/manager/owner.
There is a very good reason for that.
The reason is that I NEVER WANTED TO BE A BOSS AGAIN EVER IN MY LIFE!!!!!!
If you think explaining car stuff to people sucks, try getting grown adults to simply do the right things for the right reasons!!!! THEN you will understand why I have no hair and high blood pressure!!!!!
Unfortunately after repeatedly refusing to be the boss for the fist 5-6 months we we're in business, my team kept nagging me until I finally said "FINE!!!!". So I threw it up to be voted on at a meeting, and yeah.......here I am.....
So yeah I guess that's it for now........

Then that's GREAT TOO!!! Not only have you demonstrated the humility and intelligence to both recognize AND admit that to me (and more importantly to yourself), but you have also shown the honesty and integrity that it takes to be successful in this business.
