Position Summary:
A Protel Industries Line Locator utilizes site plans, area maps, and blueprints to accurately identify the location of underground utilities. These utilities include high-voltage electrical cables, telephone and other communication lines.
** INDEPENDENT-CONTRACTOR POSITION ONLY
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret site plans, maps, and blueprints to locate underground utilities
- Use locating equipment and information sources to accurately mark underground facilities
- Communicate findings to excavation personnel or other authorities
- Operate and troubleshoot locating equipment
- Participate in coordination and safety meetings
- Adhere to company safety protocols
- Provide accurate documentation and sketches using electronic drawing tools
- Maintain accurate records of work time and client information
- Complete and upload tickets in a timely manner
- Maintain start and end logs
- Transport and maintain equipment and supplies
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements:
- Legal authorization to work in Canada (Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident)
- Ability to obtain or possess a registered & valid GST number
- Valid WorkSafe coverage and commercial liability insurance
- Criminal background check
- Valid BC Class 5 driver's license and quarterly driver's abstract
- Willingness to travel
- Work vehicle
- Relevant and current safety tickets for the position
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to meet deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong professionalism and work ethic
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, mapping programs, and drawing software
- Strong navigation skills
