POSITION SUMMARY:
The Recovery Support Worker provides direct, relationship-based support to relatives participating in SIHLRC
programs across day, evening, and night operations. This role supports daily routine, wellness, engagement, and
safety while helping create a stable and respectful environment rooted in trauma-informed, strengths-based,
and harm reduction practice. The position works collaboratively with clinical, cultural, and recreation staff to
support recovery as a lived, relational process.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Provide direct day-to-day support to relatives with routine, engagement, and recovery-focused structure.
2. Support wellness checks, documentation, shift handoff, and program participation across assigned shifts.
3. Build respectful relationships that model consistency, encouragement, and professional boundaries.
4. Respond to concerns using trauma-informed, de-escalation, and harm reduction approaches.
5. Coordinate with cultural, clinical, and recreation staff to support integrated care and referrals.
6. Maintain clean, organized, and calm living and common spaces that support relatives’ safety and dignity.
7. Contribute to shift coverage across day, evening, or night schedules within the verified Recovery Support
Worker model.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of trauma-informed, strengths-based, and harm reduction support practice.
- Ability to build rapport with relatives while maintaining boundaries and documentation standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a 24/7 multidisciplinary environment.
- Strong observation, communication, and shift handoff skills.
- Ability to work day, evening, or night shifts within the shared staffing model.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent frontline support and community-based experience.
Experience in recovery services, residential care, social services, community support, or related settings is
preferred.
Training in trauma-informed care, crisis response, de-escalation, or harm reduction is an asset.
Professional Designation/Certification/Licenses:
First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe
Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check prior to employment.
Other:
Requires general knowledge of the Siksika Nation culture and some ability to communicate in the Siksika language.
