Almond Coffee & Cuisine is looking for an experienced and passionate Head Barista to lead our coffee program and barista team. The ideal candidate should have strong specialty coffee knowledge, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to maintain consistent quality in a fast-paced café environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the coffee bar.
- Prepare and oversee high-quality espresso-based beverages, specialty coffees, matcha, teas and signature drinks.
- Maintain consistent standards for espresso extraction, milk steaming, latte art, recipes and presentation.
- Train, coach and supervise baristas on beverage preparation, customer service and café standards.
- Conduct regular quality checks and ensure every beverage follows Almond's recipes and specifications.
- Dial in espresso machines and grinders daily and adjust recipes based on extraction and coffee conditions.
- Maintain proper cleaning and preventive maintenance schedules for espresso machines, grinders and coffee equipment.
- Manage coffee beans, milk, syrups, cups and beverage-related inventory.
- Monitor stock levels, minimize wastage and assist with ordering.
- Help develop new seasonal beverages and signature drinks.
- Ensure excellent customer service and handle guest concerns professionally.
- Maintain a clean, organized and efficient coffee station at all times.
- Support scheduling, opening/closing procedures and daily team organization.
- Work closely with management and the kitchen team to ensure smooth overall café operations.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation and workplace health & safety standards.
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of professional barista experience.
- Previous experience as a Head Barista, Lead Barista or Barista Supervisor preferred.
- Strong knowledge of espresso extraction, grinders, coffee beans and brewing methods.
- Strong milk-texturing and latte art skills.
- Experience working with commercial espresso machines and grinders.
- Knowledge of specialty coffee standards and beverage recipe development.
- Strong leadership and staff-training abilities.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently during high-volume service.
- Strong attention to detail, cleanliness and consistency.
- Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
