Line Cook
We are looking for a skilled and composed Line Cook to join the kitchen of a new high-end Italian restaurant opening soon in one of Toronto's most prestigious neighbourhoods. This is an opportunity to work within a culinary team that values technique, discipline, and a genuine love for the craft.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Line Cook is responsible for executing service on their assigned station with speed, accuracy, and consistent quality. Working within a team-oriented, high-performance kitchen, you will be expected to own your station, communicate clearly, and uphold the culinary standards of Shay throughout every service.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Station ownership
● Execute all dishes from your assigned station with precision, speed, and consistency during service
● Complete all mise en place to the required standard before service begins
● Follow recipes, portioning guides, and plating specifications exactly
● Maintain a clean, organized workstation and hold yourself to the highest food safety standards at all times
● Communicate proactively with your Chef de Partie and kitchen leadership throughout service
Team and kitchen standards
● Collaborate with prep cooks, fellow line cooks, and senior staff to ensure seamless service flow
● Assist with training and supporting junior kitchen staff as needed
● Uphold FIFO, proper labelling, and food storage procedures without exception
● Participate in receiving, stocking, and end-of-shift cleaning and reset
● Contribute to a kitchen culture that is disciplined, respectful, and focused on quality
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required
● Minimum 2 years of line cook experience in a professional kitchen, fine dining preferred
● Strong technical foundation across knife skills, cooking techniques, and station management
● Ability to work cleanly, efficiently, and calmly under pressure during high-volume service
● Reliable, accountable, and coachable with a genuine commitment to quality
● Food Handler certification or willingness to obtain prior to start
● Eligibility to work in Ontario
An advantage
● Experience in Italian or European fine dining kitchens
● Culinary school or formal apprenticeship training
● Experience across multiple stations including saute, grill, and garde manger
