Target Compensation: From $70,000 to $80,000 per annum, according to experience, plus bonus and benefits.
Regular Work Hours: From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. Occasional shift flexibility and ability to work overtime hours will be required during peak periods.
Work Location: Hybrid, with 2 days remote-based and 3 days onsite. Onsite work requirements may change according to client business requirements.
Position Reports To: Office Manager.
Responsibilities Summary:
Law Clerk and Intake Coordinator to work in a team environment, supporting carriage of Tort and AB files, as well as providing client intake services, including receiving and screening calls, and opening files and setting up appointments for approved clients.
Law Clerk responsibilities include:
- Draft and serve production requests such as medical briefs, case law research, and legal briefs.
- Draft settlement proposals, statements of claim, memos, motion materials, LAT applications, case conference summary briefs and submissions, and insurer correspondence.
- Review S.44 Insurance Examination Reports and Expert Reports for accuracy and related charges.
- Manage submission of OCF forms, including managing and tracking limitation dates for OCF-18s.
- Manage client reimbursements, internal billings, and electronic client files.
- Regularly communicate with clients to provide status updates and answer questions.
- Regularly communicate with insurance adjusters, physiotherapists, RMTs, chiropractors and general practitioners as required, maintaining strong relationships with treatment providers and clinics.
Client Intake Coordinator responsibilities include:
- Act as primary liaison between clients and legal professional team.
- Respond promptly to telephone and walk-in requests for legal services.
- Screen potential clients for eligibility and coordinate initial scheduling for eligible clients, in consultation with Intake Lawyer.
- Manage legal documents in case management system, ensuring confidentiality.
- Additional Law Clerk and Client Intake Coordinator responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in Legal Administration or related discipline, or equivalent combination of work experience and education.
Professional Credentials: Law Clerk/lLCO Certification an asset.
Preferred Work Experience: Approximately 3+ years of experience as a litigation law clerk and 1+ years as a client intake coordinator or legal receptionist in a law firm environment.
Preferred Sector Experience: Plaintiff Personal Injury law firm experience preferred.
Technical and Language Skills Requirements:
- Familiarity with FileVine or similar applications (will train on FileVine).
- Advanced MSOffice proficiency (will be tested).
- Excellent data entry skills and attention to detail (will be tested).
- Advanced English language skills, both written and verbal, including excellent spelling, grammar, proofreading and syntax (may be tested), and professional telephone manners.
- Verbal fluency in additional language(s) an asset.
