Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Production Planner & Scheduler to join our clients manufacturing team. This role is essential in coordinating production activities, ensuring optimal utilization of resources, and maintaining seamless supply chain operations. The successful candidate will leverage advanced planning tools and systems to develop accurate production schedules, align demand with manufacturing capacity, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and continuously update the master production schedule.
- Schedule manufacturing jobs through the appropriate departments and work centres.
- Establish planned start dates, completion dates and production priorities.
- Monitor work-in-process and actual progress against the schedule.
- Identify capacity constraints and potential late deliveries before they become problems.
- Maintain realistic completion and ship-date forecasts.
- Determine required versus available labour and equipment capacity.
- Conduct production-floor time studies and establish realistic standard labour hours and cycle times.
- Compare planned hours against actual hours and investigate significant variances.
- Work closely with purchasing/material coordination to identify material requirements and required-by dates.
- Confirm material availability before scheduled production begins.
- Identify material shortages, tooling issues or other constraints that could affect the schedule.
- Ensure jobs are production-ready with materials, drawings, tooling and other requirements available.
- Track schedule adherence and production performance.
- Develop increasingly accurate historical production data to improve future scheduling and capacity planning.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years Experience in production planning, scheduling or manufacturing coordination.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production flow.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
- Strong Excel and analytical skills.
- Experience with capacity planning and production scheduling.
- Comfortable conducting time studies and working directly on a manufacturing floor.
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Able to manage multiple jobs and changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience in automotive, aerospace, composites, defence, fabrication or engineered manufacturing is considered an asset.
What Success Looks Like
The Production Planner & Scheduler will become the single source of truth for the companies production schedule.
Management and production should have clear visibility into what needs to be produced, when it needs to be produced, how many hours are required, whether materials are available, where capacity constraints exist and whether customer delivery commitments are on track.
Pay: $65,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
