Recognized as a leader in providing innovative primary health care, we are seeking a dynamic individual to join our multi-disciplinary team in the role of Health Service Assistant. The Health Service Assistant is primarily responsible for preliminary patient preparation, readying them for their appointment with the doctor/nurse practitioner. The Health Service Assistant is also responsible for the sanitization and stocking of medical equipment, as well as the cleanup of exam rooms.
Responsibilities include:
Patient Preparation
- Interview patients to obtain applicable medical information, including measurement of vital signs, weight and height, as required
- Accurately record patients’ medical history, vital statistics and information such as test results in medical records (using Practice Solutions software or other EMR software)
Other Duties
- · Sterilization of equipment
- · Monitor the schedules of the practitioners assigned on a daily basis
- · Attend staff and team training/meetings
- · Other tasks assigned to you by your team leader/trainer
Working Conditions
- The ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure is important as the Health Service Assistant is the person ensuring the patients are ready for medical assessment.
- It is expected that during most of the shift the HSA will be on their feet (walking/standing) and able to work with all patients in a team environment.
- Within the team, errors are identified, acknowledged and corrected in a professional manner.
The successful candidate requires:
- 2 - 4 years’ experience in clinical medical practice
- Exposure to taking vitals preferred
- Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records software (Practice Solutions)
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team
- Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written
