Position
Exploration Staffing Solutions Ltd. is seeking Geological Technicians (Geotechnicians) to join our team on a grassroots exploration project near Grand Forks BC. The position is town-based and travel would be fly-in fly-out of your home city to Kelowna/Penticton/Cranbrook/Vancouver then by truck to Grand Forks. Alternatively, the successful candidate can travel to site by vehicle and expense their km driven. Accommodation is in a hotel or crew house, and a per diem is provided. We are currently hiring for Geotechnicians to start at soon as July 20.
Duties
Primary duties of this position will be:
- Prepare drill core for the Geologist to log
- Cleaning the core
- Piecing it back together in the core box
- QAQC’ing drill run depth blocks for accuracy
- Obtain geotechnical measurements
- Total core recovery (TCR) of each drill run
- Locate and extrapolate orientation line on the core with precision
- Rock quality designation (RQD)
- Natural and mechanical fracture identification
- Intact rock strength (IRS)
- Other duties may include but are not limited to
- Assisting with core sampling and sample shipment preparation
- Conducting quality checks on geotechnical data
- Assisting geologists with various core shack and field activities
Qualifications
- Ideal candidate has experience with working as a Geotechnician carrying out the above duties, and has experience working with oriented core.
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
- Team player: must work well with in diverse groups of people for extended periods of time
- Able to work independently when required
- Have a positive and pro-active attitude towards environmental responsibility, health and safety, and respectful workplace practices
- Be detail oriented and strive for accuracy and consistency
- Physically capable of lifting up to 40-70 lbs., being active for a 10-hour shift, and working in physically demanding outdoor environments
- Comfortable and able to work and live in remote camp settings.
- Valid unrestricted Canadian drivers license is preferred but not required
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Post-secondary schooling and/or experience in geology and the mineral exploration industry
- Experience with working as a Geotechnician, Geotechnical Logger, or Geological Field Assistant
This position is open to Canadian citizens as well as non-Canadian citizens who currently hold a valid work VISA.

Pay: $315.00-$350.00 per day
