Park Enterprises is based in Lethbridge and provides permitting and inspection services to clients across Alberta. We are specifically seeking candidates who are able to provide service to locations such as Drumheller, Strathmore, or Medicine Hat. Travel is required based on the service area.
The Challenge:
Work toward your Alberta Safety Codes certification in Plumbing and Gas Certification with the Safety Codes Council of Alberta.
The Plumbing & Gas Safety Codes Officer is responsible for customer consultation and professional and accurate communication with homeowners, contractors, municipal representatives, and other team members. You will be responsible for applying and enforcing the Safety Codes Act, plumbing and gas codes, and utilizing internal procedures and policies to fulfill your role and duties.
What you’ll learn to do:
- Complete site inspections and comprehensive, thorough, and accurate inspection reports
- Interpret and apply various codes and regulations with impartiality
- Successfully navigate our permitting platform (eSITE) and computer software including email and electronic tools such as a tablet to perform daily tasks such as report writing or plan examinations
- Respectfully debate codes and standards to establish consistency and solutions internally or provide public education to various stakeholder groups and clients
- Provide code consultation with municipal representatives and clients
- Complete plan examinations of plumbing and gas permit applications with an application of the Act, applicable regulations, codes, and standards
- Respond to clients/applicants with deficiencies within permit application submissions or request additional documentation
- Explain the application of codes and standards with tact and accuracy
- Apply a working knowledge of standatas, notices, variances, codes, and standards
- Enforce code requirements and ability to navigate enforcement avenues including issuance and follow up of Orders with professional communication with clients, staff, or municipal representatives
- Process requests for alternative solutions with verbal customer engagement and provide clear code based written approvals and refusals
- Become proficient in preparing and writing reports
What you’ll bring:
- Journeyperson Plumber or Gasfitter certification
- At least 4 years of experience working as a Journeyperson Plumber or Gasfitter
- Proficiency in reading blueprints
- Knowledge of interior and exterior plumbing and gas components
- Effective time management with keen attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks and actions needed
- Self-motivated and conscientious
- Strong customer service propensity with excellent English communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated emotional intelligence and sensitivity to needs of our customers
- Ability to address conflict and concerns in a professional manner with a customer-driven approach
- Self-starter with the proven ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to continuous learning, teaching, mentoring, and personal growth within a team environment
- A clean, neat, and professional appearance and the ability to always communicate with tact and diplomacy
- Valid class 5 driver's license (including drivers abstract, if driving company vehicles).
