Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Liner Supervisor to lead field crews on projects across Canada. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for planning daily work, supervising crews, maintaining quality, and ensuring work is completed safely and in accordance with project specifications. Working closely with project management, clients, inspectors, and subcontractors, the successful candidate will remain actively involved in field operations while leading by example.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader with extensive geosynthetic installation experience who takes pride in delivering high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise liner installation crews on projects across Canada.
- Plan and coordinate daily work activities to meet production schedules.
- Install, weld, test, and repair geosynthetic systems including HDPE geomembranes, geotextiles, geocomposites, and other synthetic materials.
- Interpret project drawings, specifications, and installation requirements.
- Ensure all work meets project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and industry standards.
- Coordinate material deliveries, equipment, and labour requirements.
- Conduct daily toolbox meetings, hazard assessments, and site inspections.
- Promote and enforce Canadian Liners' safety program and client-specific safety requirements.
- Oversee quality control testing, seam documentation, and project records.
- Troubleshoot installation challenges and implement practical field solutions.
- Communicate effectively with clients, inspectors, consultants, and project management.
- Mentor and train Liner Technicians and Labourers to develop their skills.
- Complete daily reports, production tracking, timesheets, and project documentation.
- Assist with project planning, mobilization, and demobilization activities.
- Travel extensively and work in remote locations throughout Canada.
- Perform other duties that support the success of Canadian Liners and its projects.
Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience installing geosynthetic systems and related materials.
- Previous experience leading crews on industrial or civil construction projects.
- Strong understanding of geosynthetic installation methods, welding techniques, quality control procedures, and industry best practices.
- Ability to read construction drawings and project specifications.
- Experience operating wedge welders, extrusion welders, testing equipment, and related installation tools.
- Proven commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Physically fit and capable of working in outdoor and remote conditions.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively across Canada.
Preferred:
- Industry certifications related to geomembrane installation are considered an asset.
- Experience on mining, oil & gas, landfill, wastewater, or environmental containment projects.
- Experience supervising multiple crews or large-scale liner installations.
- Experience overseeing quality control procedures, seam testing, repairs, and installation documentation.
- Heavy equipment experience (telehandler, skid steer, excavator, etc.).
- CSTS, WHMIS, Ground Disturbance, First Aid, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Leadership for Safety Excellence, and other applicable safety certifications.
