At Jake’s Grill and Oyster House, fresh oysters and seafood are our specialties. We’ve been serving the Burlington community since 1985, with no sign of stopping. Now, we’re looking for our next Bartender.
As an experienced server or bartender, you know how fun and exciting it is to work in
a busy restaurant. You’re looking for a long-term opportunity, and a chance to make

Bartender:
As our latest Bartender, your main responsibility is to be “the face of the business” behind the wood. You’ll prepare drinks for servers and your own table section, and shuck oysters at the bar (we’ll teach you how!) during off-peak shifts. You’ll open and close the bar using the highest safety standards, and maintain bar cleanliness throughout your shift.
You have a passion for mouth-watering food and beverage. You’ll have no problem learning our menu, and you’ll love giving guests appetizing recommendations. You’re not here just to pour beer; you’re a food, beverage and wine expert.

It’s important that you have the right experience, but it’s even more important that we find a person who’ll fit in with our team and enjoy working with us. You’ll fit right in if you are:
- Engaging – you’re friendly and outgoing, and love getting to know your guests. You know how to read your customers, and intuitively give them the type of service they want.
- Team-oriented – we’ll always have your back, because we’re in it together. When it gets busy, managers don’t hesitate to jump on service bar to help you out. Like us, you’re always willing to pitch in to help.
- Cool under pressure – multitasking comes naturally to you. When things get busy, you stay calm and collected, and don’t let the fast-pace faze you. Our guests will appreciate your sense of urgency and attentiveness.

The Details:
We have permanent full-time and part-time opportunities available, and are willing to work with you to determine the best schedule for you.
Your schedule will require you to work mostly evenings and weekends, our busiest time. We’re not open late – on weekdays, we’re open until 10, Friday and Saturday until 11, and Sunday until 9. You must be flexible for days, evenings, and weekends. Our lunch and dinner shifts are busy, so you’ll never be bored.
You’ll be paid hourly (minimum wage plus tips).
Qualifications:
- Experience in a restaurant as a bartender or server
- Smart Serve Certified
- Knowledge of wine and beverages
- Oyster shucking experience is an asset (but not required)
