Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Shunt Truck Driver to join our dynamic logistics team. Responsibilities
- Safely operate shunt trucks and other heavy equipment to move freight, containers, and trailers within the facility and yard.
- Assist with the loading, unloading, and positioning of freight for storage or transfer purposes.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections of equipment to ensure safety and functionality before each shift.
- Coordinate with warehouse staff and drivers to facilitate timely trailer swaps and freight transfers.
- Maintain accurate records of trailer movements, equipment usage, and safety checks.
- Follow all safety procedures, traffic rules, and operational guidelines to prevent accidents or damage.
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting on shunt trucks as needed to ensure continuous operation.
Skills
- Proven experience operating forklifts, shunt trucks, or other heavy-duty industrial vehicles.
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and trailer management within a warehouse setting.
- Strong understanding of commercial driving regulations and safety standards.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently in a busy environment.
- Basic automotive repair skills for troubleshooting minor mechanical issues on shunt trucks.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors effectively.
- Attention to detail for conducting safety inspections and maintaining accurate logs.
