Personal Support Worker for In Home Respite
Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Respite Providers to support clients with dementia in their daily activities. This role is essential in providing temporary relief to primary caregivers, ensuring that clients receive the care they need at home in a safe and supportive environment. It will require working independently, providing activation and necessary personal care for regular scheduled visits. The ideal candidates will have experience in senior care and a strong understanding of the unique challenges faced by individuals with dementia.
Duties
- Personal care assistance to clients, including rising/retiring, bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Assistance with meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition for clients.
- Medication assistance/reminders as prescribed and monitoring for any changes in condition.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote cognitive function and emotional well-being.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping tasks.
- Support clients with mobility and communication needs as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with team, supervisor and family members regarding client care.
- Document care provided and report any significant changes in client behavior or health status.
Skills
- Personal Support Worker in good standing with references.
- Strong background in care, particularly with individuals suffering from dementia or disabilities.
- Demonstrated competence in dementia behaviour management and confidence working 1:1 with clients for extended periods of time.
- Knowledge of meal preparation techniques that cater to various diets, restrictions or preferences.
- Able to assist with medication and safety measures.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Patience, empathy, and a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for seniors. Pay: $22.95-$26.00 per hour
