Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Cabling Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting data cabling systems in commercial and industrial environments. This role requires a strong understanding of computer networking, telecommunication systems, and electrical principles, with an emphasis on safety and precision. The Data Cabling Technician will play a vital part in ensuring reliable network infrastructure for our clients, supporting their communication and data transfer needs.
Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, and test Ethernet cables, fiber optics, and other low-voltage wiring systems
- Read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and wiring schematics
- Use hand tools such as crimpers, wire strippers, drills, and testers to complete installations
- Conduct site surveys to determine optimal cabling routes and placement of network hardware
- Perform maintenance and repairs on existing cabling infrastructure to ensure optimal performance
- Collaborate with electricians, IT staff, and project managers to coordinate installation schedules
- Ensure all work complies with electrical codes, safety standards, and industry best practices
Skills
- Strong knowledge of Ethernet cabling, computer networking principles, and telecommunication systems
- Mechanical aptitude with experience handling hand tools for cable termination and installation
- Familiarity with low-voltage wiring standards and electrical safety procedures
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams accurately
- Electrical experience or background in telecommunications is highly advantageous
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot network issues efficiently
- Strong attention to detail to ensure quality installation and compliance with safety standards
Pay: $17.00-$26.00 per hour
