Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Water Truck Operator to join our team. The Water Truck Operator will directly support our landscape construction & landscape maintenance project sites as directed by the Foreman or Superintendent. The watering maintenance of our greenery flora is critical for project and municipal success.
MDL Landscaping serves Cochrane, Calgary, Airdrie, and surrounding areas in between.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining the moisture saturation of trees, plants, and sod along residential or commercial boulevards or within residential parks.
- Safely maneuver and operate the water truck within residential locations with high pedestrian traffic or within active construction sites.
- Perform daily truck inspections and maintain accurate records of equipment operation from project site-to-site.
- Collaborate with Foreman and Superintendents to coordinate equipment usage, watering timelines, and project locations.
- The Water Truck operator will have opportunity to pick up hours in lieu of rain days.
Requirements
- A basic understanding of watering and maintaining vegetation.
- Be technologically capable for tracking your own hours and documenting site operations.
- Available to work weekends if required (weather, deadline, or general maintenance related).
- Be comfortable working alone and checking in with the Superintendent periodically.
- Basic mechanical knowledge of vehicles, specifically freightliner or F750 water trucks.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL Class-5); ability to operate larger vehicles safely.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.
- Strong attention to safety protocols, a detail-oriented approach to accomplish the job tasks, and be versatile for last minute project location changes.
This role is ideal for individuals who are comfortable with seasonal work in the outdoors. There is also opportunity for compensation increases depending on experience and success within the role, along with opportunity, but not guaranteed, for job extension depending on company winter needs.
