Heavy Duty Mechanic
Kettle River Contracting is currently recruiting a professional individual to join our team as a Heavy Duty Mechanic.
The Heavy Duty Mechanic will be part of our core group and play a pivotal role in the further growth of the company. This position will be responsible for coordinating numerous aspects of the company with regards to the vehicle and heavy equipment fleets. The Heavy Duty Mechanic will coordinate daily with the fleet manager to coordinate equipment and vehicle repairs and maintenance requirements. The Heavy Duty Mechanic will report directly to Kettle River Contracting’s Fleet Manager.
Job Duties:
· Conduct Field Mechanical Repairs in a Timely and Effective Manner
· Communicate Effectively with the Service and Parts Department to ensure Optimization
· Assist and Inspect Equipment and Highway Vehicles and Conduct Routine/Preventative Maintenance as Required
· Diagnose, Repair and Maintain all Systems on Heavy Equipment, Implements and Support Items
· Complete Detailed Report Notes for Historical Archiving
· Assist with Resource Scheduling of Parts and Repairs to Avoid Conflicts with Ongoing Projects
· Mechanical Subcontractor Evaluation
· Promote a Safe and Respectful Work Environment
· Promote and Enforce a Professional Site and Labour Force
· Coordinate to Assess the Current and Future Resource Requirements of all Active or Upcoming Projects
· Perform, Educate and Document Daily Field Level Hazard Assessments
· Perform, Educate and Document Daily Equipment Inspections
· Perform, Educate and Document Daily Light Vehicle Inspections
· Effectively Seek Productive Methods of Completing Tasks
· Work Under Pressure and Tight Deadlines.
· Understands, Possesses Knowledge of Heavy Equipment Operations.
· Possess a Valid Driver’s License (class 3 or equivalent)
· Operate and Maintain in a Professional Manner, any Kettle River Contracting Provided Assets including Cell Phones, Computers and Vehicles
· Adhere to all Kettle River Policies
· Train, Mentor and Lead other Employees
Job Details:
· Full Time Position (approximately 200 hours per month)
· Expected to Work 8-12 Hour Shift
· Field Based Position
Job Requirements:
· Minimum of Valid Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Endorsement
· Minimum of Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic with 3+ years experience
· Self-Driven personality with exceptions time management skills. Proven ability to Multitask.
· Exceptional communication skills
· Strong Leadership, Communication, Interpersonal and Supervisory Skills
· Be Fit for Duty
· Able to Work in Various Environments and Weather Conditions
· Must be Safety Orientated, Self-Motivated and Work Well with Other Employees and Subcontractors

· Pass Pre-Employment, Annually, and Post Incident Drug and Alcohol Testing
Job Type:
Temporary Full-time – Monday-Friday or 7/7 Rotation or 14/7 Rotation
Schedule:
8-12 Hour Shift – Field Based
Pay Scale:
$45.00-$60.00 per hour
Supplemental Pay:
Overtime Paid after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.
Double Time Paid after 12 hours per day.
Experience:
Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic – 3 years
Heavy Civil Experience – Asset
Open Pit Mining Experience – Asset
Underground Utilities Experience – Asset
Oil and Gas Experience – Asset
Utility Installation and HDPE Piping Experience – Asset
Class 1 or 3 License with Air Brakes
Apprentice Mechanic - Will Evaluate Each Application
Work Location:
Elkford or Cranbrook, BC with travel to various work locations
