Position Summary:
The Registered Pharmacy Technician assists the Pharmacist in the technical aspects of prescription filling and administrative duties in order to increase the Pharmacist's opportunity to provide patient care. The Registered Pharmacy Technician participates in all aspects of the Pharmacy Operations required of a team player. They are a key member in the delivery of superior customer service.
Position Responsibilities:
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all applicable privacy legislation, regulatory standards, and pharmacy policies.
- Greet patients professionally, verify patient identity, and confirm the accuracy and completeness of all prescription information prior to processing.
- Receive, assess, and accurately enter prescription information into Kroll, including new prescriptions, hospital discharge orders, compliance packaging initiations, medication changes, and prescription transfers, within the technician's scope of practice.
- Process prescriptions from intake through final preparation, ensuring accuracy in data entry, product selection, labeling, packaging, and documentation.
- Demonstrate competency in all pharmacy assistant responsibilities and oversee all technical aspects of prescription processing, identifying, monitoring, correcting, and resolving workflow issues to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Perform Independent Technical Checks (ITC) of processed prescriptions in accordance with Ontario College of Pharmacists standards and pharmacy policies.
- Accurately prepare prescriptions using both manual dispensing methods and automated dispensing and robotic packaging technology while maintaining quality assurance standards.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain compliance packaging (blister packs) and medication synchronization programs.
- Maintain accurate prescription records, medication inventories, narcotic and controlled substance records, and other required documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Receive, verify, and store incoming pharmaceutical inventory and supplies, reconcile quantities against invoices, identify discrepancies, and communicate inventory needs or shortages to the appropriate team members.
- Assist pharmacists with the initial preparation of Meds Checks for patients
- Respond to general over-the-counter (OTC) product inquiries within the Registered Pharmacy Technician scope of practice and refer patients to the pharmacist for therapeutic advice or clinical consultation when appropriate.
- Assist patients in locating pharmacy and front-store products and coordinate special orders when required.
- Operate the pharmacy point-of-sale system and perform cashier responsibilities as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment by adhering to all health and safety policies, cleaning and maintaining dispensing and packaging equipment, and following proper infection prevention and safe lifting practices.
- Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support safe, accurate, and efficient patient care.
- Perform other duties within the Registered Pharmacy Technician scope of practice as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager or Designated Manager.

Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Pharmacy Technician program.
- Current registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) as a Registered Pharmacy Technician in good standing, or eligible for registration.
- Previous experience as a Registered Pharmacy Technician in a community pharmacy setting is considered an asset; however, new graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Proficiency with Kroll Software is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Ontario pharmacy legislation, standards of practice, and professional guidelines.
Work Hours
- Must be available to work daytime and evening shifts (up to 8:00 p.m.) and participate in a fair one-in-four weekend rotation.
Compensation & Benefits
