Job Description
This role focuses on pressure welding within a dedicated pressure vessel team in a fabrication environment. You will weld vessels, spools, and nozzles, perform back welding on the production floor, and support the assembly of exchanger systems using overhead cranes. The position requires strong blueprint interpretation skills and the ability to work from drawings and P&IDs to deliver high-quality, code-compliant welds.
Responsibilities

Perform pressure welding on vessels, spools, nozzles, and related components on the production floor.

Split work time between pressure vessels (approximately 70%) and spooling (approximately 30%) based on production needs.

Read and interpret product drawings, blueprints, and P&IDs to plan and execute welding and fitting tasks accurately.

Complete back welding operations consistently to ensure structural integrity and compliance with specifications.

Assemble exchanger systems using an overhead crane, ensuring safe and precise handling of materials and components.

Carry out pipe fitting and layout activities to prepare materials and joints for welding.

Support hydrotesting and piping activities as required to verify the integrity of welded systems.

Work collaboratively in a fabrication environment, coordinating with fitters, welders, and other team members to meet project timelines.

Conduct troubleshooting on welds and assemblies, identifying and resolving issues to maintain quality standards.

Follow established safety procedures and participate in orientation and HSE guidance, including working with a buddy during the initial training period.

Maintain organized work areas, tools, and equipment to support efficient production and safe operations.

Participate in X-ray testing processes by preparing welds and ensuring they meet inspection and code requirements.
Essential Skills

Valid B Pressure Ticket.

Journeyman Welder certification.

Proven experience in a fabrication environment, particularly with pressure vessels and spooling.

Strong pipe fitting skills, including layout and assembly for welding.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, product drawings, and P&IDs.

Demonstrated proficiency in pressure welding, including back welding on vessels and spools.

Experience working with vessels, spooling, and process piping in an industrial setting.

Hands-on experience using overhead cranes for assembly and material handling.

Familiarity with hydrotesting, piping installation, and welding in a production environment.

Ability to support and pass X-ray testing of welds through high-quality workmanship.

Solid troubleshooting skills related to welding and fabrication issues.

Work Environment
The role is based in a modern fabrication shop located in an industrial area, close to established commercial amenities. The facility specializes in compression and process piping for oil and gas applications and operates in a structured, production-focused setting. Work is performed on the production floor with regular use of overhead cranes, pressure welding equipment, and other fabrication tools. Shifts typically follow a four-day workweek with 10-hour shifts, including day and afternoon options, with night shift given priority. The day shift generally runs from early morning to late afternoon, while the afternoon shift runs from late afternoon to late night, with an additional premium for afternoon work. New team members receive a structured orientation with health, safety, and environment guidance and work with a buddy during their first days to become familiar with daily P&ID layouts and workflows. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and adherence to established procedures, with appropriate industrial attire and personal protective equipment required on the shop floor.

The pay range for this position is $46.35 - $51.93/hr.
