We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Quality Control Technician to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in producing quality work, enjoys problem-solving, and is looking to play an important role in both quality assurance and daily manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Control
- Perform first-off, in-process, and final inspections of fabricated steel components.
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, hole locations, weld quality, and overall product accuracy using measuring equipment.
- Ensure products meet engineering drawings, customer specifications, and company quality standards.
- Complete and maintain quality control documentation, inspection reports, and traceability records.
- Record material heat numbers and verify material certifications.
- Identify, document, and report non-conforming products and assist with corrective actions.
- Work closely with production staff to resolve quality concerns before products move to the next stage.
- Assist in developing and improving quality control procedures and inspection processes.
Production Support
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints.
- Support production scheduling by ensuring inspections are completed in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with machine operators, welders, and supervisors to maintain efficient workflow.
- Perform incoming material inspections and verify deliveries.
- Assist with inventory accuracy of raw materials and completed products.
- Ensure finished products are properly tagged, packaged, and prepared for shipment.
Continuous Improvement
- Recommend process improvements to reduce waste, rework, and production delays.
- Monitor production quality trends and communicate recurring issues to management.
- Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action implementation.
- Help maintain organized work areas using 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
- Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the facility.
Health & Safety
- Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Participate in safety meetings and report hazards or unsafe conditions.
Qualifications
- Previous Quality Control experience in a metal fabrication, manufacturing, or structural steel environment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and engineering blueprints.
- Experience using measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers, squares, levels, and other inspection tools.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Good communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Forklift and overhead crane experience is considered an asset.
- Certifications: CINDE Weld Inspection and Quality Control or Canadian Welding Bureau
Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour
