About Us
Northland Workwear and Embroidery Ltd. is an Edmonton-based manufacturer of industrial protective workwear and custom embroidered garments. For over 30 years, we have supplied flame-resistant coveralls, parkas, smocks, and branded apparel to clients in the oil and gas, firefighting, and trades sectors across Alberta. We manufacture in-house — every garment is built here, by our team.
We are a small, close-knit operation. You will work alongside experienced sewers in a stable, respectful environment where your skill is valued and your contribution is visible.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced industrial seamstress to join our production team. This is a hands-on production sewing role — you will be constructing coveralls and other heavy-duty workwear from cut panels to finished garment, working to pattern specifications and quality standards.
This is not an alterations or light sewing position. We work with heavy technical fabrics including flame-resistant materials, and we sew structural seams that meet safety compliance standards. If you have experience in garment manufacturing or industrial sewing, you will feel at home here.
Responsibilities
- Sew coveralls, parkas, and workwear garments from cut pieces to finished product
- Operate industrial sewing machines including single needle, double needle, serger, and walking foot
- Follow pattern specs, seam allowance callouts, and construction sequences accurately
- Maintain consistent output and quality standards in a production environment
- Work collaboratively with a small sewing team to meet order deadlines
- Handle and sew heavy and technical fabrics including FR (flame-resistant) materials
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 1 year of industrial sewing experience (required)
- Experience constructing garments — coveralls, workwear, outerwear, uniforms, or similar (strongly preferred)
- Ability to operate multiple industrial machine types (single needle, double needle, serger)
- Comfortable working with heavy fabrics and following technical pattern specifications
- Production mindset — you understand piece output, deadlines, and quality consistency
- Reliable, self-motivated, and a collaborative team member
FR fabric or safety garment experience is a strong asset but not required — we will train the right candidate on our specific standards.
What We Offer
- Stable, full-time permanent employment
- Day shift, Monday–Friday — no evenings or weekends
- Overtime pay available
- Small team environment — your work matters here
- On-the-job training on our garment standards and materials
- Opportunity to grow with a established Alberta manufacturer
