The Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe operation, transportation, and maintenance of company equipment, including vacuum trucks, forklifts, and skid steers, while delivering exceptional service to our clients. This role plays a key part in supporting field operations by ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Equipment Operator will be responsible for:
- Ensuring Health and Safety is the number one priority.
- Adhering to all applicable company, customer, and legislative codes, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Promoting a positive safety culture through company values and active participation in safety meetings, client site orientations, safety communications, planning, and hazard assessments.
- Operating, driving, staging, and transporting various manual transmission units and equipment, including vacuum trucks, forklifts, and skid steers.
- Performing daily pre-trip, post-trip, and equipment inspections to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
- Monitoring Hours of Service (HOS) compliance and communicating any concerns regarding work-hour limitations.
- Utilizing Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) in applicable equipment.
- Completing all required operational and safety documentation accurately, including logbooks, inspection reports, timesheets, JHAs, FLHAs, and equipment checklists.
- Conducting basic troubleshooting, minor maintenance, and communicating equipment repair needs to supervisors.
- Safely loading, unloading, transporting, and securing equipment, tools, and materials in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Assisting field crews with catalyst handling and turnaround activities as required.
- Maintaining equipment cleanliness, housekeeping standards, and a professional work environment.
- Working safely in refinery, petrochemical, and other industrial environments, including varying weather and challenging job site conditions.
- Building positive working relationships with clients, co-workers, and supervisors through professionalism, teamwork, and exceptional customer service.
Requirements:
- Class AZ driver's license with a clean driver's abstract (Class DZ will also be considered).
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Safety-focused attitude with experience working in industrial environments.
- Previous experience operating vacuum trucks, forklifts, skid steers, or other heavy equipment is considered an asset.
- Experience working in refinery, petrochemical, industrial maintenance, or construction environments is preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude, including the ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and understand work instructions, safety procedures, permits, and operating manuals.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to complete inspection reports, logbooks, and operational documentation accurately.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with supervisors and team members.
- Must be in good physical condition, capable of lifting at least 50 lbs., and able to perform physically demanding work.
- Must be capable of wearing a fall arrest harness and have the ability to climb into controlled settings at 30'
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Willingness and ability to travel for extended periods and work 10–12 hour shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Valid forklift certification is considered an asset.
- Current H2S Alive, First Aid/CPR, Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights, CSTS, or other industry-recognized safety certifications are considered assets.
- Ability to access client facilities, including successful completion of drug and alcohol screening requirements where applicable.
