Job Summary
The Housing Services Corporation (HSC) is on a mission to build a strong, financially sustainable, affordable social housing sector in Ontario. Created by the Province of Ontario, HSC works directly with municipalities and affordable housing providers to deliver business services that help them to achieve their goals. We are currently recruiting for a Manager, Insurance & Risk to join our insurance team.
Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, this role will assist with the management of HSC’s core group property and casualty insurance program for over 600 Ontario social housing providers with assets of more than $50 billion.
This role is responsible for supporting the management of the HSC Insurance program, responding to client inquiries and effectively managing HSC’s third-party service providers. As a valued member of our team, this individual will need to possess strong interpersonal skills, deliver exceptional customer service and be able to confidently assist with the full-cycle of insurance policy renewals.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to client inquiries related to all elements of the HSC insurance program, services and coverage offerings.
- Utilize risk expertise to evaluate client exposures, develop program enhancements and guide new initiatives
- Inform renewal strategies and execution in collaboration with the Director of Insurance and the program’s third-party broker
- Assist with oversight of the program Claim Trust Funds (SIR), ensuring timely reporting and efficient use of the Funds in accordance with the Program Guidelines
- Represent HSC, providing direct client support through email, telephone, Board presentations and meetings
- Assist on various insurance program projects and tasks as required
Desired Skills and Experience:
- RIBO license required
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in the insurance industry
- Strong demonstrated knowledge of property and casualty insurance
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication and customer service skills
- A high level of professionalism and diplomacy
- Ability to work well with colleagues, clients and vendors with minimal supervision
- Keen attention to detail, effective time management skills and the ability to multi-task
- A desire to strive for continuous improvement, both in professional development and improved business processes.
- High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and familiarity with Salesforce
- Certified Risk Manager (CRM) or Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) is an asset

Pay: $80,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
