Purchasing Specialist

Responsibilities
- Oversee the procurement of raw materials, components, and services required to support manufacturing operations.
- Identify qualified suppliers, obtain competitive quotations, and evaluate vendors based on quality, pricing, delivery, and overall performance.
- Build and maintain strong supplier partnerships while negotiating favorable commercial agreements.
- Plan purchasing activities by analyzing production schedules, inventory levels, and demand forecasts.
- Prepare and manage purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery of materials to meet production deadlines.
- Monitor inventory levels to help prevent shortages while minimizing excess stock.
- Work closely with Production, Planning, and Warehouse teams to resolve supply issues and maintain workflow.
- Track supplier performance and implement corrective actions when quality, cost, or delivery expectations are not met.
- Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and supplier information within the company's ERP system.
- Assist in developing purchasing strategies and inventory control initiatives that improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Respond proactively to supply chain challenges, expediting orders and identifying alternative sourcing solutions when necessary.
- Support process improvement projects and contribute to ongoing operational excellence initiatives.
- Complete additional purchasing or supply chain responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, materials management, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge and experience in steel/aluminum markets/pricing
- Hands on experience using ERP, MRP, or inventory management software.
- Strong ability to analyze inventory trends, demand planning, and purchasing requirements.
- Demonstrated success negotiating with suppliers and managing vendor relationships.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong numerical aptitude with experience evaluating costs, pricing, and purchasing data.
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related discipline is preferred. Professional purchasing or supply chain designations are considered an asset.
Pay: $70,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
