Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Property and Grounds Maintenance Worker to care for a commercial property inside and out. You’ll handle day-to-day building upkeep—plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks—while also maintaining landscaped grounds and providing seasonal snow removal. If you like variety, working outdoors in a dynamic setting, and taking pride in safe, functional spaces, this role is for you.
Key Duties
Building Maintenance (Commercial Interior/Exterior)
- Perform minor plumbing repairs (fixtures, drains, toilets, leaks), electrical work (outlets, switches, lighting, ballasts), and carpentry (door hardware, millwork, drywall patching, furniture repairs).
- Conduct routine inspections of building systems and common areas; troubleshoot and complete work orders promptly.
- Support vendor access and follow-up for larger M&E issues; maintain logs and safety documentation.
Grounds & Landscape
- Perform landscaping tasks including planting, pruning, mowing, and fertilizing lawns and gardens.
- Install and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants and lawns.
- Use hand tools and power tools for trimming, digging, and general maintenance; operate equipment (e.g., mower, trimmer, blower) safely.
- Conduct routine inspections of landscape features and perform repairs/adjustments; maintain cleanliness of work areas.
Seasonal / Other
- Carry out snow removal, salting/sanding, and walkway safety during winter months; assist with leaf cleanup and seasonal projects.
- Operate heavier equipment as needed (e.g., excavator or skid-steer) for site prep/landscaping projects—experience a plus.
- Follow all safety protocols and support construction or improvement projects related to facilities or landscape features.
Requirements
- Proven experience in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry maintenance (commercial preferred).
- Prior experience or knowledge in horticulture/landscape maintenance; irrigation system familiarity a plus.
- Mechanical aptitude to operate and maintain tools/equipment safely; valid driver’s license preferred.
- Ability to lift, bend, and perform manual labor outdoors in varied weather; strong physical stamina.
- Basic knowledge of excavation equipment operation is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working independently and with a small team.
Nice to Have
- Trade tickets or coursework in a relevant trade.
- Experience operating excavators/skid-steers, and with commercial irrigation.
- First-aid/CSTS or related safety training.
Work Conditions
Part-time schedule with on-call winter snow removal; some early mornings during storms. Mix of indoor mechanical rooms and outdoor grounds work.
