Opportunity
The SVP/VP, Commercial will lead and scale e-Zinc's commercial organization, driving business development, strategic partnerships, and market adoption of our long-duration energy storage technology. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), this role will serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and help shape the company's commercial strategy during a pivotal stage of growth.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in the long-duration energy storage or broader clean energy sector, along with a proven track record of commercializing innovative technologies and building strategic customer and partner relationships. This leader will be equally comfortable defining long-term commercial strategy and executing against it—leading complex customer engagements, influencing cross-functional decisions, and working closely with the executive team to accelerate growth and position e-Zinc for long-term success.
Position Scope and Responsibilities
The (S)VP, Commercial will lead e-Zinc's transition from early commercial validation to scaled market deployment. This executive will define and execute the company's commercial strategy, build strategic customer and partner relationships, and establish the commercial foundation required to scale long-duration energy storage deployments. Reporting to the CEO, this is a highly visible player-coach role that combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution.

Develop and execute e-Zinc's commercial strategy, identifying priority markets, customer segments, and growth opportunities.

Shape go-to-market plans, value propositions, pricing strategies, and competitive positioning across utility, industrial, remote/off-grid, and emerging applications such as data centers.

Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and regulatory developments, translating insights into commercial opportunities.

Partner closely with the Executive Team to align commercial priorities with product development, manufacturing readiness, and corporate strategy.

Lead the full commercial lifecycle—from opportunity identification and customer engagement through contract negotiation and deal execution.

Build and maintain executive-level relationships across utilities, independent power producers (IPPs), developers, EPCs, strategic partners, investors, and other key stakeholders.

Structure innovative commercial models and long-term partnership agreements that accelerate customer adoption and project deployment.

Represent e-Zinc externally with customers, partners, investors, and at industry events.

Oversee the commercial execution of customer projects from contract award through commissioning and long-term relationship management.

Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Supply Chain to ensure successful project delivery and customer satisfaction.

Identify expansion opportunities and convert successful deployments into long-term commercial partnerships.

Identify and pursue strategic non-dilutive funding opportunities, including government grants, incentives, and public-private partnerships.

Collaborate with internal teams on funding proposals and engage with government, regulatory, and industry stakeholders to support e-Zinc's commercialization strategy.

Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing commercial organization capable of supporting rapid business growth.

Operate as a player-coach by leading key customer relationships while developing the team's capabilities, commercial processes, and performance metrics.

Establish scalable commercial systems, forecasting, pipeline management, and cross-functional operating rhythms to support long-term growth.
Qualifications
-
15+ years of progressive executive leadership experience in commercial strategy, business development, strategic partnerships, or market development within energy storage, renewable energy, cleantech, or the broader power and infrastructure sector.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Applied Sciences, or a related field; an MBA or advanced technical degree is considered an asset.

Deep expertise in long-duration energy storage (LDES), with a strong understanding of adjacent markets including utility-scale storage, renewable energy, grid infrastructure, and energy markets.

Proven track record commercializing innovative technologies, developing new markets, and driving customer adoption from early-stage validation through deployment.

Demonstrated ability to structure, negotiate, and close complex commercial agreements with utilities, industrial customers, strategic partners, and other energy stakeholders.

Experience scaling commercial functions within a venture-backed, high-growth, or pre-commercial environment where market creation and strategic partnerships are critical.

Strategic and hands-on leader with the ability to build high-performing teams while directly engaging in critical customer relationships and business opportunities.

Exceptional executive communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence customers, investors, partners, and cross-functional teams.
