Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Yard Worker to join our team. This is a labour-focused, entry-level position that plays a key role in supporting daily yard operations, including work around our transfer station and weigh scale. The ideal candidate will help maintain a clean, safe, and organized yard, assist with material handling, sort materials, and occasionally operate skid steer or loader. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.
Duties
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the yard, transfer station, and surrounding work areas.
- Support transfer station operations, including directing traffic/loads as required and keeping areas clear and safe.
- Assist with weigh scale operations, ensuring procedures are followed and the area remains organized.
- Load and unload materials for various projects.
- Perform general labour tasks including cleanup, sorting materials, and site maintenance.
- Operate various machinery, including skid steers, loader as required and in accordance with training and safety standards.
- Ensure tools, materials, and equipment are returned to designated storage areas after use.
- Conduct regular yard inspections to identify hazards, maintenance needs, or material issues.
- Work closely with team members to keep workflow efficient and operations running smoothly.
- Follow all safety regulations and company policies at all times.
Requirements
- Experience in operating various pieces of equipment.
- Previous experience in a labour-intensive role.
- Comfortable working in an outdoor, active yard environment.
- Ability to safely use basic yard tools and equipment.
- Willingness to learn transfer station and weigh scale procedures.
- Strong physical stamina — ability to stand, lift, carry, and move materials throughout the shift.
- Good attention to detail and ability to keep work areas organized.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.
- Commitment to following safety rules and instructions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00-$21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 50 per week
