Junior Project Coordinator

J&R Mechanical Ltd. is seeking a motivated and organized Junior Project Coordinator to join our growing team in Yellowknife.
Working alongside our Project Managers and Project Coordinators, the successful candidate will assist in the planning, coordination, and administration of mechanical construction projects throughout the Northwest Territories. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in the mechanical construction industry.
Candidates with mechanical industry experience, a trades background, or a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation are encouraged to apply.
This role is designed as a development opportunity within J&R Mechanical. The successful candidate will gain exposure to project coordination, project management, and estimating, with opportunities to advance into senior project coordination, estimating, or project management roles as their skills and experience grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the coordination and administration of mechanical construction projects
- Review and organize project documentation, drawings, and specifications
- Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and project correspondence
- Assist with material procurement and equipment tracking
- Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, and field staff
- Maintain project files and document control systems
- Assist with project scheduling, progress tracking, and reporting
- Support project budgeting, cost tracking, and change order management
- Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes
- Assist with project closeout and commissioning documentation
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the mechanical construction industry
- Trades experience in plumbing, heating, sheet metal, gas fitting, HVAC, or related mechanical fields
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
- Experience with mechanical estimating
- Experience using Trimble Estimation software or similar software would be an asset.
- Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation or Engineering Technology diploma
- Previous project coordination, construction administration, or estimating experience
