BioTroopers is a hands-on science education company that helps kids explore the amazing world of biology through experiments, creative activities and immersive experiences. At our new Science Hub in Burlington, we offer science enrichment programs, camps, workshops and one-of-a-kind science birthday parties.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Science Birthday Party Host who can bring our birthday experiences to life and make every child feel like a scientist for the day!
The Role
As a BioTroopers Party Host, you’ll lead groups of children through approximately 75 minutes of hands-on science activities and experiments as part of their birthday celebration.
This is a high-energy, people-focused role. You’ll be explaining cool science, leading experiments, keeping a group of excited kids engaged and making sure the birthday child has an extra-special experience.
You don’t need to be a scientist — we provide the activities, lesson plans and training. What matters most is that you’re confident with kids, enthusiastic about science and comfortable leading a room.
What You’ll Do
- Lead fun, hands-on science experiments and activities for children's birthday parties
- Explain science concepts in an engaging, kid-friendly way
- Welcome families and help create a warm, exciting party atmosphere
- Keep groups of children engaged and activities running smoothly
- Make the birthday child feel celebrated throughout the experience
- Prepare materials and set up activity stations before parties
- Assist with resetting and cleaning the space after parties
- Follow BioTroopers' activity and safety procedures
- Learn and confidently deliver different BioTroopers birthday themes
Who We’re Looking For
You might be a great fit if you:
- Love working with children
- Are outgoing, warm and comfortable speaking in front of groups
- Can bring energy and enthusiasm to an activity
- Are reliable, organized and able to take initiative
- Can manage a group of excited children while keeping the experience fun
- Are interested in science and enjoy learning new things
- Are comfortable getting a little messy — science experiments sometimes are!
Experience working with children through camps, tutoring, recreation programs, museums, science centres, birthday parties or teaching is an asset.
A background in science or education is helpful, but not required.
Availability
This is a part-time, primarily weekend position based at the BioTroopers Science Hub in Burlington.
Candidates should have regular Saturday and/or Sunday availability, particularly during daytime party hours. Occasional additional shifts may be available for camps, workshops and special events.
