Due to continued growth, we are currently seeking to hire a Heavy Equipment Operator. A minimum of five years previous civil experience is a must. You will be part of a rapidly growing group with room to grow within the company.
This role demands a high level of attention to detail and adherence to strong safety practices at all times. This is a team oriented environment and the successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining a positive morale, ensuring that communication is maintained with your team members, team leads, and foremen, while demonstrating leadership to junior employees.
This position must be in compliance with company guidelines and procedures, which may be introduced or amended from time to time.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of lifting and setting equipment, cages, pipe and concrete structures.
- Knowledge of trenching, grading and site preparation.
- Machine knowledge including general care and maintenance. The ability to identify issues quickly and bring those issues to the attention of your team lead or foreman.
- Maintain an open and communicative demeanor, facilitating strong communication to your co-workers and team members.
- Practice safety in your every move, be fully aware of your surroundings, do your part to minimize hazards and report any injuries or damage to your supervisor immediately.
- Participate in site and safety meetings with your supervisor and co-workers as needed, and maintain active communication with your supervisor and co-workers, throughout your work period.
- Complete all required daily safety paperwork in a thorough and timely manner.
- Complete industry, project and/or safety specific training, as requested.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills & Attributes:
- A minimum of 5 years in the role of Heavy Equipment Operator is required, ideally in a civil construction setting.
- Knowledgeable with a proven safety record of working around existing utilities.
- Self-motivated with the ability to perform well without supervision.
- Strong understanding and respect for safety guidelines and protocol.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
