Overview
We are looking for an experienced, hardworking Interlock Technician / Landscape Labourer to join our landscape construction and renovation team. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in interlock installation, grading, excavation, and general hardscape work who takes pride in quality workmanship and works well in a team environment.
The right candidate will be reliable, physically capable, and comfortable working on residential and commercial outdoor projects involving interlock, patios, walkways, driveways, retaining walls, and general landscaping construction.
Responsibilities
- Assist with and perform interlock installation for patios, walkways, driveways, steps, and other hardscape features.
- Complete site preparation work including excavation, grading, soil preparation, compaction, and base installation.
- Assist with the installation of retaining walls, concrete borders, drainage systems, and other landscape construction elements.
- Load, unload, move, and organize tools, materials, and equipment on site.
- Operate landscaping and construction equipment safely, including plate compactors, cut-off saws, skid steers, mini excavators, and other tools/equipment, depending on experience.
- Support the crew with demolition, removals, cleanup, and general labour tasks as needed.
- Follow project layouts, measurements, and direction from the Crew Leader or Project Manager.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite at all times.
- Communicate effectively with team members and report any site issues, material shortages, or concerns.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in interlock, hardscaping, landscaping construction, excavation, or general outdoor construction labour.
- Hands-on experience with interlock installation, including base preparation, levelling, laying stone, cutting, and finishing.
- Experience with grading, compaction, and general site preparation.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and take direction on site.
- Valid driver’s license is considered a strong asset.
- Experience operating skid steers, mini excavators, or other equipment is an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience towing trailers or operating heavy equipment.
- Familiarity with reading site layouts or construction plans.
- Safety training such as Working at Heights or First Aid is an asset.
