Wells Analyst
Pay Rate: $54.00–$80.34/hour, depending on experience
Contract Length: 6 months and 20 days

Raise is currently hiring a Contract Wells Analyst on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, the third largest producer of Canadian oil and natural gas and the second largest refiner and upgrader with extensive midstream and downstream infrastructure.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Wells Analyst is responsible for managing regulatory submissions, well licensing, lifecycle reporting, and data management activities from initial licensing through reclamation. Working closely with drilling, completions, operations, land, and regulatory teams, this role ensures all well-related information is submitted accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with provincial regulations.
The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and delivering high-quality regulatory reporting.
Responsibilities
Well Licensing & Regulatory Reporting

Prepare, review, and submit well license applications and amendments to provincial regulators.

Ensure all licensing activities comply with regulatory requirements and project timelines.

Coordinate with internal asset teams to gather technical information required for regulatory submissions.

Track license approvals and maintain accurate regulatory records.
Drilling & Completions Reporting

Submit drilling, completion, fracture stimulation, logging, and well test information to regulatory agencies.

Maintain accurate well lifecycle information within corporate systems.

Record key well status changes, including startups, suspensions, abandonments, and completions.

Ensure regulatory reporting deadlines are consistently achieved.
Information Management

Maintain complete and accurate well files throughout the asset lifecycle.

Update corporate databases with regulatory information and well status changes.

Support internal reporting requirements used for taxation, insurance, reserves, and operational decision-making.

Coordinate the exchange of technical information with joint venture partners and external stakeholders.
Abandonment & Reclamation

Submit abandonment and reclamation documentation to regulators.

Process reclamation certificates and update corporate systems accordingly.

Support end-of-life well file management and regulatory closeout activities.
Qualifications

Certification in Petroleum Land Administration or equivalent technical education related to drilling, completions, or well operations.

7–10 years of experience supporting well licensing, regulatory reporting, drilling, completions, or well operations.

Strong understanding of well lifecycle management and provincial regulatory requirements.

Experience analyzing drilling and downhole information for regulatory reporting.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.

Strong communication skills with the ability to explain regulatory requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Skills
-
Experience with Alberta and Saskatchewan well licensing and regulatory reporting.

Knowledge of well reporting across multiple Western Canadian jurisdictions.

Experience using Generwell, CS Land, or similar well lifecycle management systems.

Experience supporting drilling and completions operations.
-
Previous experience in upstream oil and gas operations.
Additional Information:

Full-time onsite position in Calgary, Alberta.

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

No remote work available.

Occasional field/site visits may be required.
