Overview
Empire Trading is a community-driven hobby store specializing in trading card games including Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, Lorcana, One Piece, Gundam TCG, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Union Arena. We are seeking a friendly, knowledgeable, and customer-focused Sales Representative to join our team.
This role is essential to creating a welcoming in-store, event, and online experience for our customers—whether they’re new players, collectors, or competitive gamers. The ideal candidate is passionate about tabletop gaming, enjoys engaging with people, and takes pride in delivering exceptional service. This position also includes assisting with event scheduling, working TCG trade shows and conventions locally, Montreal and Toronto, and managing the company’s online presence through social media, eBay, and the Whatnot platform. Bilingual abilities (English/French) are considered a strong asset.
Duties
- Greet and assist customers in-store, online, and via phone with professionalism and enthusiasm
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries regarding products, availability, events, and orders
- Assist with order processing, returns, and issue resolution
- Perform accurate data entry for customer records, sales transactions, and inventory updates
- Recommend products based on customer interests, play styles, and collection needs (upselling and cross-selling)
- Maintain strong product knowledge across all supported trading card games
- Support store operations including point-of-sale transactions, product organization, and restocking
- Assist with scheduling store events, tournaments, trade shows, and community activities
- Work and represent the company at TCG trade shows, conventions, and special events
- Help manage and maintain the company’s social media accounts by creating posts, engaging with the community, and promoting products and events
- Assist with managing the company’s eBay store and Whatnot account, including product listings, live sales, customer communication, and order fulfillment
- Assist with community engagement, including game nights, tournaments, and special events
- Gather and analyze customer feedback to help improve store experience and offerings
- Collaborate with team members to ensure a consistent, welcoming, and inclusive environment
Requirements
- Previous experience in customer service, retail, sales, social media management, or online marketplace operations preferred
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Passion for trading card games or hobby gaming (knowledge of MTG, Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, etc. is a strong asset)
- Familiarity with social media platforms, online selling platforms, and live-selling environments is an asset
- Attention to detail and accurate data entry skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail and event environment
- Friendly, approachable demeanor with excellent customer engagement skills
- Understanding of basic upselling techniques and customer needs-based recommendations
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Adaptability to changing priorities, event schedules, and store needs
- Bilingual (English/French) is an asset but not required
