About the Program
The Community Encampment Program provides coordinated response working alongside our Indigenous Wellness Program in the Abbotsford District by providing service for at-risk, high need individuals who require an intervention-based non-emergency response, often directly related to substance use, mental health, and homelessness.
Hours & Conditions of Work

Position Summary
The Full-Time Encampment Support Worker will be part of a larger team in Chilliwack with backgrounds in social work, housing, substance use and mental health. The Encampment Support Worker will provide front-line intervention and assessment of needs and support, through coordination of the services required, and the follow-through for ensuring the best success of these coordinated efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Provide culturally competent and traumatically informed outreach support and case management services to the most vulnerable population in Abbotsford.
- Supportive conversations and on-site needs assessments with high-risk individuals
- To line up safe transportation to shelter or health services.
- Provision of basic needs and harm reduction supplies, including naloxone.
- Management of complex individuals to coordinate already existing resources and provide referrals and advocacy for appropriate new support.
- Provide a safe warm handoff to appropriate referred supports.
- Provide coordination and follow-through with the identified team to establish the most effective wrap-around support
- Applying for BC Housing subsidies, Income Assistance, Making Appointments and Supporting clients with attending interviews.
- Keep daily notes for clients and work in concert with BC Housing to pass along information required.
- Keep a daily log of activities and collection of stats for reporting purposes and communication with the rest of the team.
