We are seeking an experienced and motivated Landscape & Hardscape Construction Manager to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for overseeing landscape and hardscape construction projects from initial preparation through to final completion. The successful candidate will lead field crews, coordinate materials and equipment, manage daily site operations, maintain project schedules, and ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on hardscape experience, with additional experience or exposure to landscape construction. They are a natural leader who can confidently manage crews, solve problems in the field, communicate with clients and management, and take full ownership of a project from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage landscape and hardscape construction projects from start to finish.
- Lead, supervise, and motivate construction crews on a daily basis.
- Plan and coordinate daily site activities, crew assignments, materials, equipment, and deliveries.
- Ensure projects remain on schedule and are completed efficiently and professionally.
- Read and interpret landscape plans, construction drawings, layouts, and specifications.
- Oversee and participate in hardscape construction, including:
- Interlock and paver installations
- Retaining walls
- Natural stone installation
- Patios and walkways
- Steps and outdoor living spaces
- Excavation and grading
- Base preparation and compaction
- Drainage and site preparation
- Oversee landscape construction and installation, including grading, soil, planting, sod, and general landscape work.
- Ensure proper measurements, elevations, grading, drainage, and site preparation.
- Monitor workmanship and ensure projects meet company quality standards.
- Manage labour, materials, equipment, and overall site productivity.
- Identify potential issues early and develop effective solutions.
- Communicate professionally with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and management.
- Conduct project walkthroughs and ensure deficiencies are corrected.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work sites.
- Ensure all company safety procedures and construction standards are followed.
- Operate equipment and tools when required and ensure equipment is used safely.
- Provide direction, training, and support to crew members.
- Take ownership of the successful completion of each project.
Qualifications & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in hardscape and landscape construction.
- Strong hands-on hardscape construction experience is required.
- Previous experience leading crews or working as a Foreman, Site Supervisor, Project Manager, or similar leadership role.
- Proven ability to manage construction projects from start to finish.
- Strong understanding of hardscape construction techniques, materials, excavation, grading, base preparation, compaction, and installation.
- Landscape construction experience is an asset.
- Ability to read plans and understand measurements, elevations, grades, and layouts.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work outdoors and perform physically demanding work when required.
- Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Ability to safely operate or oversee the operation of construction and landscape equipment.
