Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Fabrication General Manager to lead our manufacturing operations within a busy owned and operated Welding & Machine Shop. This leadership role requires a strong background in manufacturing processes, with previous experience in a Welding or Machine Shop essential. The ideal candidate will oversee daily operations, drive process efficiencies, and ensure quality standards are met while fostering a culture of safety and innovation. This position offers an opportunity to influence the growth and success of our fabrication facilities through effective management and technical expertise.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all aspects of fabrication operations, including production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Manage supply chain activities, including procurement, inventory control, and logistics, ensuring timely delivery of materials.
- Utilize ERP system to monitor production workflows, inventory levels, and scheduling accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with quality control standards by establishing rigorous inspection procedures and continuous monitoring.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement by analyzing operational data, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with sales team to develop strategies for capacity expansion, equipment upgrades, and process automation.
- Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing safety policies and conducting regular safety audits.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes with a focus on welding, fabrication and CNC Machining techniques. Journeyman Welder or Machinist ticket considered an asset.
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP and other MRP platforms for production planning and inventory management.
- Mechanical knowledge to understand equipment operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance requirements.
- Expertise in process improvement methodologies including lean manufacturing and continuous improvement strategies.
- Familiarity with quality control standards and practices within a manufacturing setting.
- Leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, foster collaboration, and drive operational excellence.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on data analysis for decision-making.
- Strong communication skills for effective coordination across departments and with external partners.
This hands on role is integral to maintaining high standards of manufacturing excellence while promoting innovation within our fabrication operations. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise combined with strategic leadership to support our company's growth objectives.
