PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for administration of full-cycle bi-weekly payroll for SilverStar’s employees, while auditing payroll processing reports for accuracy

Coordinate the payroll process with all departments for the purpose of processing payroll in compliance with established guidelines

Assist with maintenance of HRIS system configuration and testing as needed

Implement payroll process improvements as needed

Prepare and issue Records of Employment

Prepare WCB and EHT reports and remittances
-
Responsible for processing T4s and all payroll year-end requirements

Prepare bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc payroll reports

Process salary increases, bonuses, retro pay and other pay adjustments

Monitor absence reporting to verify eligibility and accuracy

Perform payroll-related G/L account reconciliations
- Communicate with a variety of internal and external parties for the purpose of ensuring accurate processing of payroll and related reporting requirements

Maintain detailed records and documentation in written and electronic formats of payroll information and processes for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements

Verify a variety of payroll related information (e.g., time sheets, benefits, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy

Respond to all inquiries arising from questions about payroll and provide information and / or direction

Liase with Human Resources to ensure employees are onboarded / enrolled in the HRIS system

Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and internal policies / procedures
Benefits Administration

Provide overall administration of benefit plans

Enroll, maintain and remove employees from company benefit plans, including retirement savings plans

Provide benefit information and review documentation with employees enrolling in benefits
-
Perform regular invoice, payroll and G/L reconciliations

Assist with annual benefit renewals

Ensure compliance with plan requirements
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Must be familiar with Paycom or be willing to be trained.

Minimum 3 yrs. payroll experience for salaried and hourly employees

Possess or working towards payroll certifications (PCP / PLP)

Demonstrated tact and professionalism when dealing with sensitive files and information

Strong verbal/written communication skills; ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organization

Current knowledge of legislations such as Employment Standards, Canada Revenue Agency and Workers’ Compensation

Advance proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel and Word).

Work well in a team environment and independently.

Passing of criminal background check required.
