About Us
Pinnacle Age Well Ltd. is a Calgary based home care and personal support services company. We provide Health Care Aide and personal support services to seniors in their own homes, and we are an approved vendor under the Alberta Blue Cross Client Directed Home Care Invoicing program. Our care team works in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, and we are currently preparing to open operations in British Columbia.
This is our first dedicated Human Resources hire. You will work directly with the Director, and you will have real influence over how the function is built.
What You Will Do
Recruitment (the core of this role)
- Post, refresh, and manage job ads for Health Care Aides and personal support workers across Indeed, Alberta Works, and community boards
- Screen applications daily, run phone screens, and book and sit in on interviews
- Complete professional reference checks and prepare offer packages
- Build our candidate pipeline through HCA training school contacts, career fairs, community organizations, and caregiver referrals
- Keep the applicant tracker current so we always know who is in progress and where
Credentialing and compliance
- Collect and verify every caregiver credential before the first shift: vulnerable sector police information check, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C, Health Care Aide certificate or equivalent, Alberta Health Care Aide Directory registration where applicable, immunization and tuberculosis screening records, WHMIS, and proof of eligibility to work in Canada
- Maintain the credential expiry calendar and chase renewals before anything lapses
- Keep personnel files organized and audit ready for Alberta Blue Cross and Alberta Health Services reviews
- Administer FOIP privacy acknowledgments and confidentiality agreements
Onboarding
- Run the onboarding sequence end to end: employment agreement, policy handbook acknowledgment
- Book and track mandatory and refresher training
- Keep the employee handbook and HR forms current
Scheduling and workforce support
- Support caregiver scheduling in Application, including filling call offs and covering gaps
- Reconcile home care software GPS verified timesheets against published schedules and flag exceptions before each payroll run
- Provide payroll support: hours verification, vacation pay, general holiday pay, and Records of Employment
- Prepare employment verification letters and standard employment documentation
Employee relations support
- Be the first friendly point of contact for caregiver questions about pay, scheduling, leave, and workplace concerns
- Coordinate the ninety day probationary review and annual review cycles, and keep the documentation clean
- Support the Director on performance conversations, WCB Alberta claims, and disciplinary documentation
- Help run retention work: recognition, caregiver check ins, and the advancement path from Personal Support Worker through Lead Caregiver
Growth support
- Assist with our British Columbia launch, including BC compliant paperwork and WorkSafeBC registration requirements
What You Bring
Required
- One or more years of experience in human resources, recruitment, staffing, or a related administrative coordination role
- Genuine comfort with high volume recruiting. This role is measured on how many good caregivers we hire and keep
- Strong organization and follow through. Credentials, expiry dates, and deadlines cannot slip
- Strong written English for letters, documentation, and job ads
- Confident with email, spreadsheets, and scheduling software, and able to learn Connecteam quickly
- Sound judgment and discretion with confidential employee and client information
- Some weekend availability, as described under Schedule below
- Clear criminal record check including vulnerable sector, completed before start date
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
Strong assets
- Recruiting or HR experience in home care, continuing care, long term care, or health care staffing
- Fluency in Cantonese and Mandarin in addition to English. A significant share of our clients and caregivers are Chinese speaking, and this ability is a meaningful advantage in the role
- A certificate or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Working knowledge of the Alberta Employment Standards Code
- Payroll or scheduling software experience
- A valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle for career fairs and school visits
Job Details
- Job type: Full time, permanent
- Pay: $22.00 to $27.00 per hour, based on experience
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Schedule: Primarily Monday to Friday, day shift. Some weekend availability is required. Caregiver schedule coverage and recruitment events regularly fall on weekends, and you will receive a weekday off in exchange when you work a weekend
- Location: Calgary, Alberta. In person
- Expected start date: As soon as possible
