Canadian Maritime Engineering Ltd. is seeking experienced Journeyman Welders/Fabricators to join our team in Port Alberni. The successful candidates will work on vessel construction, refit, repair, and other marine fabrication projects.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and specifications.
- Fit, fabricate, assemble, and weld structural components.
- Perform welding using applicable processes and procedures.
- Complete repairs, modifications, and new construction on steel and aluminum vessels.
- Use fabrication equipment, power tools, and measuring instruments safely.
- Maintain workmanship in accordance with project, quality, and safety requirements.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, quality personnel, and other trades.
- Follow all company, customer, and regulatory safety procedures.
Qualifications:
- Journeyman or Red Seal Welder certification.
- Journeyman or Red Seal fabrication certification.
- Previous structural fabrication and welding experience.
- Marine or shipyard experience is preferred.
- Ability to read drawings and independently lay out fabrication work.
- Current welding qualifications are considered an asset.
- Experience welding steel, stainless steel, or aluminum is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to quality, fit-up, and dimensional accuracy.
- Ability to work safely in a physically demanding industrial environment.
- Dependable, professional, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
