Job Summary:
As a Mechanic at Walters Landscaping, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining our fleet of heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment. From trucks to heavy machinery, you'll ensure that everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
Job Requirements:
-Truck and Heavy Equipment Technician Certification: Possess a valid certification in truck and heavy equipment mechanics to ensure proficiency in diagnosing and repairing various types of machinery.
-Minimum 2 years of practical experience: Demonstrated experience in the field, preferably with heavy truck, trailer, and equipment maintenance. Proven track record of effectively diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues.
-Fluent in English (verbal and written): Clear communication skills are essential for interacting with team members, documenting maintenance reports, and effectively communicating with clients.
-Safety-oriented mindset: Prioritize safety in all aspects of work, adhering to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
-Strong knowledge of applicable legislation: Familiarity with relevant legislation such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Highway Traffic Act to ensure compliance with regulations.
-Valid "G" driver's license: Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record to operate company vehicles and transport equipment as needed.
**Roles and Responsibilities:**
-Diagnose, repair, and maintain various types of equipment: Utilize technical expertise to identify and address mechanical issues efficiently. Perform regular maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance of equipment, including loaders, tractors, lawnmowers, power tools, arboriculture equipment, hydraulics, and electrical equipment.
-Conduct regular inspections: Perform thorough inspections of machines, engines, transmissions, and other components to assess their operational health. Identify potential issues and take corrective action to prevent downtime.
-Schedule required maintenance and repairs: Create and adhere to maintenance schedules for fleet equipment. Coordinate with the Fleet Manager and Head Mechanic to prioritize repairs and ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
-Maintain inventory and documentation: Keep detailed records of inventory, including parts, tools, and equipment. Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections accurately to maintain comprehensive service records.
-Respond to repair calls: Be available to respond to repair calls as required, promptly addressing equipment breakdowns and minimizing downtime.

- **DEP in mechanics, small engines, or equivalent experience/education:**
Additional qualifications in mechanics or small engines are desirable and can enhance your suitability for the role.
: Experience working with small engines, such as those found in lawnmowers and power tools, is beneficial and can contribute to your effectiveness in the role.
- Familiarity with landscape and snow management practices, equipment, and materials is advantageous and can facilitate your integration into our team.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach are essential for effectively interacting with team members and coordinating repair efforts.
Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop innovative solutions to mechanical challenges.
Comfortably navigate computer software and utilize technology to support maintenance tasks and documentation.
