Position Title: Design/Build Crew Member
Job Summary: Under the direction of the Job Site Crew Leader and/ or General Manager, perform a variety of tasks to lead in the construction of landscapes and related structures. Landscaping of property using hand or power tools or equipment to perform a variety of tasks.
Reports To: General Manager , Job site Crew leader
Major Responsibilities:
· Carries out installation of landscaping project as directed/assigned by Crew Leader/ General Manager/Landscape Designer.
· Comply with Shades of Green Landscape’s health & safety policies and procedures;
· Maintain a courteous and polite manner when dealing with customers and co-workers;
· Follow landscaping designs to assist with the construction of landscape and related structures;
· Operate and maintain chain saws, sod cutters, stone saws, loaders, mini excavators, tractors, and other landscape related equipment;
· Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, saws, brush trimmers, and axes;
· Wheelbarrow heavy loads;
· Plant trees, shrubs, and flowering plants, grass, ground covers, and apply mulch for protection, using gardening tools;
· Installation of rock gardens, ponds, decks, drainage systems, retaining walls, fences, planters, sidewalks, and patios;
· Clean and prepare job sites to eliminate possible hazards;
· Position, join, align, and seal structural components such as stone and pipes;
· Apply caulking compounds by hand or using caulking guns;
· Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications using picks, shovels, tampers, and rakes.
Knowledge & Experience:
· Use of equipment such as skid steers, mini-excavators, loaders, compactors is an asset.
· Knowledge and use of common hand tools
· Ability to complete measurements and mathematical calculations and read detailed plans
· Safe work practices and experience in the green industry
· Skills: understand and carry out verbal instructions; read label signs; maintain simple records and make verbal reports; customer service
· Emergency First Aid/CPR Level C, WHMIS
· Valid ‘G’ License and clean driving record
Access to your own reliable vehicle for transportation to and from job sites.
· Clear Criminal Reference Check
Working Hours:
· Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to approximately 5:00 p.m
· Occasional Saturday when required.
· 45 to 60 hours per week depending on the season.
· Work duties will be primarily carried out outdoors and regularly exposed to bad weather conditions i.e. wet and/or humid conditions and hot and cold weather.
