Nature, Scope and Objective
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial activities of the Facilities Management (FM) portfolio in Canada and Ireland. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and effective financial controls while supporting operational teams in achieving business objectives.
You as an Accounting Manager will:
- Provide financial support to Operations Managers in relation to budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and financial performance analysis.
- Lead and participate in Internal Project Reviews (IPRs) to identify financial risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.
- Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of project billings, accounts receivable, cash receipts, bank reconciliations, and accounts payable processing.
- Monitor project profitability, cash flow, and financial performance, providing regular reporting and recommendations to management.
- Support the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
- Review monthly management accounts and variance analyses, highlighting and investigating significant deviations from budget and forecast.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, corporate policies, tax requirements, and statutory obligations.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including audit preparation and responses to auditor requests.
- Develop, maintain, and improve financial reporting processes, controls, and procedures.
- Prepare management reports and present financial information to senior leadership as required.
- Research and respond to financial queries from stakeholders across the business.
Is this the right role for you?
- The Salary range for this role is $80,000 - $90,000
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant accounting experience, preferably within construction, facilities management, engineering, or a project-based environment.
- Professional accounting qualification, or equivalent, or actively working towards qualification.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, management accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Experience with ERP and accounting systems, together with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Knowledge of Canadian and Irish tax regulations, including VAT and payroll compliance, is desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable recommendations.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coach and develop team members.
- High level of integrity and professionalism, with the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
