Our practice focuses on estate and elder law litigation, and we are looking for an outgoing, bright, legal administrative professional to join our Team. This is a junior / entry level position.
This legal administrative professional will need to be detailed, collaborative and tech-savvy as well as extremely organized in to order plan, co-ordinate, and work as part of a law firm team to serve our clients, our business, and our colleagues.
The successful candidate must be SUPER organized and will have regular direct contact with the firm lawyers and professionals as well as direct contact with our clients.
This is strictly an onsite position; hours of work are from 9 am to 5 pm.
Primary Responsibilities
- Liaise with lawyers, clients, and the court; taking information and carrying out instructions.
- Diarize court dates and meetings and arrange boardrooms or deliverables.
- Assist with file management and organization and maintenance of comprehensive legal files including preparing correspondence, assisting with record-keeping, time-management and other tasks related to the ongoing administration of legal files.
- Back-up reception duties and client intake.
- Act on lawyer instructions and deal with complex and sensitive client issues.
- Prepare, issue, serve and file court documentation.
Qualifications │ Requirements
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 1+ years’ experience in a litigation law firm OR graduated a Legal Assistant or Law Clerk Diploma program and has a knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills—both written and oral, as well as good interpersonal skills to enable effective interaction within a law firm environment.
Strong computer skills including MS Office: Word, Outlook and Excel are essential.
