The Master / Captain is the senior officer in command of the vessel, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the ship, its crew, and passengers. This role oversees all aspects of navigation, compliance, safety, and daily vessel activities in accordance with Transport Canada regulations and company standards. The Captain is the primary authority on board and ensures a professional, secure, and enjoyable experience for guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Command and safely operate the vessel on approved routes and schedules.
- Ensure compliance with Transport Canada regulations, company policies, and safety procedures.
- Supervise, lead, and mentor the deck crew, promoting teamwork and professional conduct.
- Conduct pre-departure checks, navigation planning, and ongoing voyage assessments (weather, tides, hazards).
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation for all operational, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee routine vessel maintenance and coordinate inspections or necessary repairs.
- Lead emergency drills and respond to onboard emergencies to ensure passenger and crew safety.
Qualifications:
- Transport Canada Master 150 GT Domestic Certificate of Competency (or equivalent).
- Valid Transport Canada marine medical certificate and ROC-MC (Radio Operator’s Certificate).
- Marine Emergency Duties (MED) and Advanced First Aid certifications (or equivalent).
- Proven leadership experience and strong decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, organization, and team-leadership abilities.
Pay: From $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35.0 – 45.0 per week
