We are currently looking for a Refrigeration Technician, either an Apprentice or Journeyman, to join our growing team.
Job Description
The Refrigeration Technician will be responsible for installing, servicing, maintaining, and troubleshooting refrigeration, air conditioning, and HVAC-related systems in residential, commercial, and light industrial settings.
The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and able to work independently or as part of a team. This position is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow their trade skills with a well-established local company.
Responsibilities
- Install, service, repair, and maintain refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
- Diagnose equipment issues and complete repairs efficiently and professionally.
- Perform preventative maintenance on refrigeration, cooling, and HVAC systems.
- Work on commercial and residential equipment as required.
- Complete system checks, inspections, and testing in accordance with industry standards.
- Communicate clearly with customers, supervisors, dispatch, and team members.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, and labour time.
- Follow company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and service vehicle.
- Provide professional customer service and represent R&D Plumbing and Heating in a positive manner.
- Participate in on-call, evening, or weekend work as required.
Requirements
- Registered Refrigeration Apprentice or Journeyman Refrigeration Technician.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Previous experience in refrigeration, air conditioning, or HVAC service is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work in various environments, including rooftops, mechanical rooms, confined areas, and outdoor conditions.
- Willingness to follow all safety policies, procedures, and industry regulations.
- Ability to participate in on-call rotation as required.
- Knowledge of ServiceTitan software is considered an asset.
- Background check required.
Assets
- Journeyman Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic certification.
- Gasfitter ticket or HVAC experience.
- Commercial refrigeration experience.
- Experience with furnaces, air conditioners, rooftop units, boilers, and controls.
- Strong customer service background.
