Our Public Affairs team leads communications and policy strategy across Canada, helping tell the story of our business to media, policymakers, partners, and the public.
We're seeking a Manager, Communications to help lead those efforts across the country and report to the Head of Public Policy & Communications for Canada. This is a high-impact, externally facing role responsible for shaping strategic narratives, driving earned media opportunities, supporting advocacy campaigns, and strengthening Uber's reputation across key Canadian markets.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and operator with sharp news judgment, a strong executive presence, and the ability to navigate fast-moving, complex environments. This role requires close collaboration across Communications, Policy, Legal, Marketing, and Operations teams to advance business priorities and tell compelling stories about Uber's impact across Canada.
What You'll Do
- Lead strategic communications initiatives that advance Uber's reputation and business priorities across Canada.
- Develop integrated campaigns spanning earned media, stakeholder engagement, executive visibility, and public affairs.
- Shape compelling narratives around Uber's mobility and delivery businesses, including innovation, economic opportunity, and community impact.
- Build and manage relationships with media, influencers, and key third-party stakeholders across Canada.
- Serve as a strategic communications advisor to senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
- Translate complex business, policy, and regulatory issues into clear, persuasive messaging.
- Partner with Policy, Legal, Operations, Product, and Marketing teams to align communications with business objectives.
- Lead issues management and rapid-response communications on reputational and policy matters.
- Identify proactive storytelling opportunities that position Uber as a leader in technology, mobility, and delivery.
- Represent Uber externally in media engagements, industry forums, and stakeholder discussions.
- Manage external agencies and support organizational change communications initiatives.
Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in communications, public affairs, media relations, journalism, government, or related fields.
- Bachelors degree
- Strong media relations experience and a solid understanding of the Canadian media and political landscape.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into clear, persuasive narratives.
- Experience supporting advocacy, stakeholder engagement, public policy, or integrated digital campaigns.
- Experience managing high-profile or sensitive communications issues under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Sound judgment, strong political instincts, and comfort operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders across matrixed organizations.
- Experience operating in fast-paced technology, startup, or highly regulated industries.
- Experience developing and managing integrated digital and public affairs campaigns across paid, earned, and owned channels.
- French language proficiency is an asset.
- Experience working in the technology industry.

For Canada-based roles: The base salary range for this role is CAD $145,000 per year - CAD $161,000 per year.
You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
