Position Overview
Roni Group is seeking an experienced and motivated Demolition Estimator to join our growing preconstruction team in Vaughan, Ontario. The Demolition Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive bids for a wide range of demolition and environmental projects, including complete building demolition, selective demolition, structural removal, interior demolition, remediation, abatement, heritage and façade retention, decommissioning, and site redevelopment projects throughout Ontario.
The successful candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of demolition means and methods, hazardous materials management, environmental regulations, and construction estimating practices. This position works closely with operations, project management, subcontractors, disposal facilities, suppliers, and clients to develop cost-effective and executable project solutions.
This is a full-time, in-office position with regular site visits required throughout the GTA & Southern Ontario.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Preconstruction
- Review drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, environmental assessments, tender documents, and project requirements.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and prepare comprehensive cost estimates for demolition, dismantling, abatement, site clearing, and decommissioning projects.
- Develop demolition methodologies, sequencing plans, and project execution strategies.
- Evaluate labour, equipment, trucking, disposal, recycling, environmental remediation, and subcontractor requirements.
- Solicit and evaluate quotations from subcontractors, suppliers, disposal facilities, and specialty contractors.
- Analyze project risks including environmental constraints, hazardous materials, adjacent structures, utility conflicts, and site access restrictions.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site investigations, and client walkthroughs.
- Prepare bid submissions, proposal letters, qualifications, exclusions, and supporting documentation.
- Participate in post-bid negotiations and scope clarification meetings.
- Maintain accurate estimating databases, production rates, equipment costs, and historical pricing information.
Job Costing & Project Controls
- Develop detailed estimate breakdowns and cost codes for project execution.
- Participate in project handover meetings with project managers and site supervision.
Technical & Operational Support
- Review environmental remediation requirements including asbestos, lead, PCB-containing materials, mould, and contaminated soil management.
- Coordinate waste diversion, recycling strategies, disposal planning, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Support procurement planning by identifying long-lead items and specialized subcontractor requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers and field staff to continuously improve estimating accuracy and productivity assumptions.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of estimating experience in demolition, environmental remediation, heavy civil construction or related construction sectors.
- Strong understanding of demolition methodologies, structural dismantling techniques, and environmental remediation practices.
- Knowledge of applicable Ontario legislation and regulatory requirements governing construction, demolition, environmental remediation, and hazardous materials management.
- Ability to interpret structural, architectural, civil, and environmental drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of project scheduling, sequencing, and construction operations.
- Experience preparing conceptual, budgetary, and hard bid estimates.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam, Excel, Bid2Win, AutoCAD, PlanSwift, HeavyBid, or equivalent estimating software.
- Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.
- Valid Ontario G Driver's License and willingness to travel to project sites.
Additional Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience estimating public infrastructure, institutional, industrial, commercial, and municipal demolition projects.
Pay: $80,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
