Newton's Grove School is a leading JK–Grade 12 university preparatory school committed to developing confident, capable, and compassionate young people. We believe that student success extends beyond academics and includes fostering a positive school culture, strong character, meaningful relationships, and a deep sense of belonging.
We are seeking an energetic, student-centered, and highly relational Head or Coordinator of Student Life to join our team beginning in August 2026. This individual will play a key role in supporting student wellbeing, school culture, behaviour, leadership development, student engagement, and community-building initiatives across the school.
Key Responsibilities
Student Culture and Community
- Collaborate with Heads of School to foster a positive, inclusive, and connected school community.
- Support the development and implementation of student leadership programs, ambassador initiatives, and opportunities for student voice.
- Promote and model the school's values, expectations, and standards of conduct.
- Build strong relationships with students to enhance engagement, belonging, and school pride.
- Support initiatives that strengthen school spirit, character development, and community connection.
- Builds strong relationships with families and staff to support school culture and trust
Student Behaviour and Support
- Serve as the first point of contact for student conduct and behavioural concerns, working proactively to resolve issues before escalation when appropriate.
- Support Heads of Schools with student discipline processes, behavioural interventions, and follow-up actions.
- Implement restorative practices and conflict resolution strategies.
- Develop and monitor behaviour support plans in collaboration with teachers, families, and school leadership.
- Meet with students and families to discuss behavioural concerns, establish goals, and monitor progress.
- Provide ongoing coaching and support to students requiring additional behavioural or social-emotional interventions.
Attendance and Student Engagement
- Monitor student attendance, punctuality, and uniform compliance.
- Identify attendance trends and coordinate intervention plans for students requiring additional support.
- Collaborate with families, teachers, and school leadership to improve student engagement, accountability, and overall success.
- Track and support students requiring additional behavioural, social-emotional, or engagement-based interventions.
- Work collaboratively with Heads of School and external or internal support professionals to ensure appropriate student supports are in place.

Student Leadership, Events, and School Life
- Collaborate with Heads of Schools to plan and support assemblies, leadership initiatives, school-wide events, and community-building activities.
- Coordinate on student leadership opportunities and ambassador programs.
- Support orientation and transition programs for new students and families.
- Lead school spirit initiatives, awareness campaigns, and activities that contribute to a vibrant student experience.
- Encourage student participation in school life and foster a culture of involvement and belonging.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
- Support the Head of School in maintaining a safe, healthy, and compliant school environment.
- Coordinate the activities and documentation of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).
- Lead and oversee workplace health, safety, and compliance initiatives, ensuring adherence to applicable legislation, regulations, and school policies.
- Support compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements, AODA, WHMIS, emergency procedures, and related regulatory standards.
- Assist with safety training, inspections, record keeping, and follow-up actions as required.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational setting.
- Demonstrated success in student leadership, behaviour support, discipline, or student life programming.
- OCT Certification is an asset
- Minimum of 5 years experience in education
- Leadership experience is an asset
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Commitment to restorative practices and relationship-based leadership.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
- Highly organized, proactive, and solutions-focused.
- Experience with health and safety compliance, JHSC, AODA, or WHMIS is considered an asset.
