Overview
We are looking for a hands-on and experienced Millwork Shop Foreman to lead daily operations in a busy millwork shop environment. This role requires a strong background in woodworking, cabinetry, and shop production processes, along with the ability to manage a team, maintain workflow efficiency, and ensure high-quality output.
The ideal candidate is a working foreman who leads by example, supports the team on the floor when needed, and ensures projects are completed safely, on time, and to specification.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate daily shop activities, ensuring production targets and deadlines are met
- Lead, train, and support shop staff including machine operators, assemblers, and helpers
- Read and interpret shop drawings, cut lists, and project specifications
- Oversee the operation of woodworking machinery such as CNC routers, edge banders, panel saws, and sanders
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and customer expectations
- Monitor workflow and adjust priorities to keep production running efficiently
- Enforce shop safety policies and ensure proper use of PPE at all times
- Conduct regular inspections of work areas, tools, and equipment
- Coordinate with project managers and installers to ensure smooth production and delivery timelines
- Troubleshoot production or quality issues and implement corrective actions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
- Track materials, report shortages, and assist with inventory control
Requirements
- Proven experience in a millwork or cabinetry shop environment
- Strong knowledge of woodworking processes, materials, and finishes
- Hands-on experience with shop machinery (CNC, edge bander, table saw, etc.)
- Previous experience in a supervisory or foreman role
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and plans
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Good problem-solving ability and attention to detail
- Commitment to safety and quality standards
- Physically capable of working in a shop environment and handling materials when required
Nice to Have
- Experience with production scheduling and workflow planning
- Familiarity with shop software or CNC programming
- Forklift certification
