Context:
Reporting to the Environmental Head and Part of a large Rail & Transit Project, Systra is looking for a Soils Specialist for the team.
Missions/Main Duties:
- Review of previously completed investigations and reporting.

Identify data gaps and commitments.

Development of the DD&I scope and schedule related to their specialty.

Lead the subject matter team tasked to complete DD&I work and reporting.

Incorporation of requirements into design.
-
Confirmation that requirements and commitments are executed.

Develops and manages the Excess Soils Management Plan for the project, including development of APU, SAP, SCR, and ESDAR.

Responsible for coordinating owner and contractor registration of the Project Area on the RPRA.

Oversees soil characterization, reuse strategies, and off-site disposal requirements.

Develops the excess soils EMP. Acts as owner’s QP during construction.

Ensures compliance with Ontario excess soils regulations and documentation requirements.

Coordinates with construction planning to optimize soil reuse and logistics.
Profile/Skills:
Approx 5 years of work-related experience on projects of similar size, scope, and complexity to the Project;
a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in Hydrogeology, environmental planning, environmental engineering or another related discipline;

P. Geo or P.Eng Certification ; Qualified Person as defined by O,Reg 153/03

experience with and understanding of the application and interpretation of Canadian Standards Association (CAN/CSA Z768 and CAN/CSA Z769) investigation criteria and criteria relating to the assessment of contaminated lands;
experience with and understanding of the application and interpretation of Ontario Regulation 153/04 and Ontario Regulation 406/19, and investigation criteria relating to the assessment of contaminated lands;
experience in designing, implementing and overseeing: groundwater management plans; Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments; groundwater characterization programs; vapour intrusion assessments; remedial action plans groundwater and/or surface water; site inspection and monitoring programs for construction activities; and Dewatering/Unwatering effluent treatment and discharge strategies-
knowledge of risk assessment procedures and requirements;
knowledge of relevant federal and Ontario policies, procedures and legislation, including waste management and related legislation, regulations, guidelines and policies for water protection and materials management;

ability to liaise with other specialty consultants, contractors and Governmental Authorities;
ability to delegate and supervise required specialist responsibilities as needed;
experience with similar projects in the Province of Ontario;
